Ben sidelined from Monza after horror attack

Ben Lewis was deprived of racing on the historic Monza Grand Prix track after an horrific knife attack at his home which left the 23 year-old hospitalised and requiring surgery on his shattered eye socket and tendons in his right hand.

The 2002 Autumn Trophy winner, bravely fought off five attackers as he opened the door to his Royston home in the week before the Italian rounds five and six of the Visma Software Formula Palmer Audi Championship, currently led by his brother Ryan.

Following surgery at Cambridge’s Addenbrooks Hospital, Ben was allowed home to recuperate and surgeons expect him to be out of action for at least six weeks. He will hopefully be able to return to the cockpit for the next rounds at Brands Hatch on August 16/17.

Despite the injury, Ben is expected to visit the Monza rounds and will be giving his comments on the races.
